A man who assaulted a terrified emergency department nurse as she cowered in the corner of the treating room has been banned from Port Lincoln — where the assault occurred — but released into the community on licence.

Jiah Thomas Chesher, 19, was having a psychotic episode when he assaulted Amanda Treagus at the Port Lincoln Hospital in August 2019.
Chesher was found not guilty by reason of mental incompetence of aggravated causing harm with intent to cause harm.
